General [9]
The core functionality of the PS3 remains the same. The PS3 still comes with a high-definition Blu-ray player, hard drive, Wi-Fi, and 2 USB ports.

Compared to the very first PS3™ model with 60GB HDD, the new PS3™ 120GB system internal volume as well as its thickness and weight are trimmed down to approximately two-thirds. Furthermore, power consumption is also cut to two-thirds, helping to reduce fan noise. While inheriting the sleek curved body design of the original model, the form factor of the new PS3™ system features a new meticulous design with textured surface finish, giving an all new impression and a casual look.

The frontline games are still priced at $59.99 and Greatest hits titles are priced at $29.99.

In addition to the Satin Silver DUALSHOCK®3 controller, we will also launch Metallic Blue and Deep Red DUALSHOCK®3 controllers.

A Vertical Stand will be launched only for use with the new PS3™ 120GB system. This stand is required for stability when placing the new PS3™ 120GB system in the vertical position.

The 80GB PlayStation®3 system was available in North America (U.S. and Canada) in August 2008.

Both 80GB PlayStation®3 models come standard with Cell Broadband Engine™ (Cell/B.E.), Blu-ray Disc™ (BD) player, built-in HDD, 1080p high-definition output, free PlayStation®Network access, and Wi-Fi connectivity.

The new 80GB PlayStation®3 (Model #CECHP01) system has 2 USB ports, whereas the previously released 80GB PlayStation®3 (Model #CECHE01) system has 4 USB ports. In addition, the new 80GB PlayStation®3 (Model #CECHP01) system does not have the multi-media memory card slots whereas the previously released 80GB PlayStation®3 (Model #CECHE01) system includes memory card slots. Consumers can use a variety of after-market accessories for transferring their media to the PlayStation®3 system via the USB ports.

The previous model of the 80GB PlayStation®3 (Model #CECHE01) system was available in the PlayStation®3 Motorstorm Bundle and the PlayStation®3 Metal Gear Solid®4 Bundle. The new 80GB PlayStation®3 (Model #CECHP01) system is available now as a stand alone system.

Not all of the PlayStation®3 systems are backward compatible with PlayStation®2 games.

Please check the Knowledge Center to determine which PlayStation®3 systems are backward compatible.

The 160GB PlayStation®3 system was available in North America (U.S. and Canada) in November 2008.

The 160GB PS3™ system model has a 160GB hard disk drive (HDD). This is twice the capacity of the 80GB PS3™ system model. Both the 80GB and 160GB PS3™ system models come standard with Cell Broadband Engine™ (Cell/B.E.), Blu-ray Disc™ (BD) player, built-in HDD, 1080p high-definition output, Wi-Fi connectivity, two USB ports and the DUALSHOCK®3 wireless controller.

Currently, the 160GB system is available in the Limited Edition PlayStation®3 Uncharted: Drake's Fortune™ Bundle and the 80GB system is available in the PlayStation®3 80GB system.
